My most comfortable laceless shoe

"This is my second pair of Grant Stone shoes. I have Dune Diesels in 9. 5EEE and picked up these Crimson Travelers in 9EEE before my summer trip to Rwanda. There is very little break-in period, and they are comfortable all day! They are probably a half size too big, in the future I’ll size down for a more “firm handshake” fit. For sizing reference, my brannock is 10EE. The 9EEE fits with nice thick wool socks (my preferred fall/winter/spring setup), but is too loose sockless. My next pair will be 9E or 8. 5EEE. Highly recommend the crimson CXL, it matches with everything!! A great shoe for business casual at the office."

Odd Fit

"Quality is unbeatable. Color is perfect and the sole is perfect. Fit is odd. I wear 10. 5 in running shoes and 10 in most dress shoes. I tried these on and the 9 was most comfortable. Now that I ordered and wore the 9, they feel too big. I’m confused on how to get these to fit comfortably. I added tongue pads, made it a little better. I have major heel slip going on. Ima work through this hopefully."

Solid!

"The “go to” solid loafer - looking forward to wearing these until I am consigned the old folk’s home many years from now - and watching a pretty nurse take them off for my sponge bath. Yes, they are that good. Buy a size 1/2 your standard and try them on first. Strut your best Wieland, Jagger, or Brown on the carpet and, if they fit, wear these the hell out of them, especially down the pub. Long break in time, but worth it!"

Love the aesthetic and quality

"Love the aesthetic and quality is phenomenal. I wore Alden’s for a million years for the quality, heritage, and fit (I wear a EEE). I appreciate your Dad’s connection with Alden. Only thing I would love to see would be that it would be lighter - - not quite as Chunky. Marriage between your loafer and my SANTONI Carlo or aTLB suede loafer would be great. I’m hoping your unlined suede Traveler will get me closer. Either way great shoe. I’m definitely a repeat customer, just wish shoe could lose a little weight (like all of us). Finally Found the Perfect Penny Loafer

"I’ve owned a lot of shoes over the years, but these Grant Stone Traveler Penny Loafers in Crimson Chromexcel are easily my favorite pair. When I first got them, I wasn’t completely sure about the fit. I had some heel slip, and my right foot had a little pressure in the arch. After adding Pedag Supra tongue pads and wearing them for a while, they transformed. The heel slip is minimal now, the leather has softened up beautifully, and they’re incredibly comfortable. The Crimson Chromexcel leather is what really sets these apart. Pictures don’t do it justice. The color has so much depth, and every time I wear them they seem to look a little better. They have that classic, timeless style that works with jeans, chinos, or business casual clothes without ever looking out of place. The craftsmanship is outstanding. Everything about them feels solid—from the stitching to the welt to the leather itself. They don’t feel like disposable shoes; they feel like something I’ll still be wearing ten or twenty years from now. One thing I really appreciate is that they’re comfortable enough to wear for long periods. They have enough room in the toe box without looking clunky, and they just keep getting better as they break in. If you’re considering buying these, don’t panic if they don’t feel perfect on day one. Give them some time. If you experience a little heel slip like I did, tongue pads may make all the difference. Once everything settles in, they’re fantastic. I honestly can’t think of another pair of shoes I’ve enjoyed owning this much. They’re expensive, but after living with them for a while, I believe they’re worth every penny. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another pair from Grant Stone."

Q&A

Back again. I love love love CXL. If my primary interest was in resistance to rain & water, would you be able to rank or compare how your tan saddle, suede and Castagno leathers hold up compared to CXL? Obviously CXL would be at the top, but wondering how suede and other materials would do as well. Not talking soaking rain, just some exposure to water. One more thing - do your Danite outsoles include a channel to protect the stitching or is the stitching exposed to the (potentially wet) ground? Thanks again.: Thanks for the question. As you mentioned, CXL would rank first given the amount of oil and wax in the tannage. We wear our suede, calf and saddle tan leather year round. When these articles get wet, it's best to let them dry naturally. Once they are dry, it is easier to address the dirty areas which is usually going to be the toe when walking in heavy rain. With full grain leather, using a conditioner occasionally will help keep the leather from becoming to dry,

What size should I be ordering? First pair of GS.: Feel free to list a few brands/sizes you like to wear. I would be happy to help figure the best size for you in our Grant Stone collection. You can always send us an email to discuss it as well.
Should I go for my typical Grant Stone size with these?: Yes, for most cases follow the same size. We have also seen others size down by a half a size for the best fit in the loafer. It depends if you prefer a snug or relaxed fit.
