Our penny loafer was created with two things in mind: versatility and comfort. It's the ultimate shoe for travel, given the ability to be paired with a sport coat or t-shirt and almost anything in between. We find ourselves wearing this shoe year-round—sockless with shorts/lightweight fabrics in the summer and with wool socks and denim through the winter.
Combining a forgiving upper leather and soft insole/outsole tannage, the Traveler Penny strikes the perfect balance of structure and support.
Creasing and color variation are to be expected on these natural, aniline leathers. Each pair will develop differently as each hide is unique.

The Alexander last runs a half-size large. Customers typically order a half-size down from their average shoe size.

"My second pair of GS loafers, first pair are in brown suede and decided to get the Dune Chromexel too. the Dunes' felt a little snugger than the suede and took about 3 wears before they loosened up and became really comfortable. The are very versatile and match everything from jeans to chinos. The both are well made and should last a very long time"

"Right out the box, the packaging inside is immaculate, each shoe encased in a fabric cloth bag to provide better unboxing experience for what the money is worth. The color, dune chromexcel, is something very unique because it's neither brown nor beige. Smell of the leather is also something to remember. "So good. And the fitting process was excellent either way customer service. First I measured my bare feet on a Brannock device (something I’ve always wanted to know) and I’m a 13D. Getting that first, it was a bit too big and the customer service had me send some photos and suggested a 12E. I was hesitant at first because of my narrow feet, and in fact the the 12E was sold out so was about to pull the trigger on the 12D, but the customer service suggested waiting for the 12E which she handled wonderfully, Turned out to be just right in the toe box (left was perfect, right was just so). There was a tad slip in the ankle area, so I ended up getting some pedag supra tongue pads, now it’s awesome."
"The Traveler Penny in Dune CXL is the second loafer I’ve bought from Grant Stone and I couldn’t be happier. Right out of the box, that glorious CXL smell hits you and you know you’re in for something truly special. Half size down from brannock is perfect, and the creases form as you flex the shoe give these beautiful high and low lights that CXL is known for. Pull the trigger and treat yourself."

"I own a pair of diesel boots and I really wanted to love grant stone loafers, but the biggest issue form me is the fit- especially if you have high instep. Even going wider did not accommodate my feet, sizing up caused heel slippage. Also at over $412 plus tax, I don't think they're worth it anymore. Yes, they are solid and substantial, but that bulk doesn't necessarily translate into better value or refinement. At this price, you start entering territory where brands like TLB Mallorca offer significantly more in terms of craftsmanship with complex curvatures, narrower waist and a better overall silhouette. Or with the same money one could pick 2 loafers from Meermin and still come out ahead. Bottom line: Decent shoes, fit can be challenging and no longer competitive at this price point."
"Great shoes, thick leather that takes a little time to break in but not too hard. I like wearing them without socks. They cost more than other loafers but all the details are perfect; with goodyear welt resolability they will last a very long time so they’re worth it to me."
