"Here is my review and pre-maintenance log for the Grant Stone Diesel Boot in Dark Burgundy Kudu. Sizing & Fit: 8. 0 E fits me absolutely perfectly. It holds my feet snugly without any uncomfortable pressure on the instep or ball, delivering that ideal, classic boot silhouette. Pre-maintenance Care: I performed a pre-maintenance routine using emulsion shoe cream before taking them outside. After conditioning, the overall color turned deep and weighty, with the subtle burgundy undertones popping through as a fantastic visual accent. The natural, rugged grain of the C. F. Stead Kudu leather has also become remarkably more dimensional and rich. I've attached a few photos, with the last photo showing the boot before the shoe care process. From the out-of-the-box comfort to the incredible depth of color after conditioning, I am completely satisfied. Looking forward to breaking these in for many years to come!"

The leather is good, but. . .

"I got the diesel boots in kudu leather about two months ago, and have been wearing them regularly since. The leather looks good and has started to break in nicely. Unfortunately there are a number of issues. For one the foam under the heal is not skived down and pushes into my foot. Secondly the tongue is not centered, and finally the waxed cotton lace broke. Some rivets are not centered correctly and are quite sharp. In total there are 4 places where I can see through the outer cotton. I can probably find a cobbler to remove the foam and I can smooth the rivets, but not sure what to do about the tongue."

"Construction of the boot is great. Unfortunate sizing dilemma is that the EEE is too wide and the E is kind of snug. The top of the boot pinches down above my big toe. Hopefully will stretch more during wear and the discomfort will go away."

Unbelievably Comfortable and super high quality!

"First impression: WOW! Spending this kind of money on a boot you’ve never seen in person was a risk but man did it pay off!! When they tell you to order down, believe them. In every other boot I own, I’m an 11 E or 11EEE. The 10. 5 EEE is plenty wide (will order E next time) but be prepared for no cushioning. Zero. But that’s NOT a bad thing. I can’t believe I’m saying this but it’s true. . by far. . as comfortable as my Brunt workboots with the double cushioned insoles. Seriously…if you’re on the fence…do it."

Everything I expected and more

"It was only fitting that I ordered these boots in the C. F. Stead Kudu leather for my eighth visit to southern Africa, the natural habitat of the Kudu. They are everything I had wished for in my previous boots (Red Wings, Aldens, and Trickers) in one package. The E width, commando sole, partially gusseted tongue, and speed hooks were what drew me, but the impeccable fit and finish was the icing on top. The styling is a perfect balance of stylish yet rugged and practical. Only thing I would note, compared with my other boots in the same environment, they did not seem to breathe as well. Wish they would bring back the Chukkas with the crepe sole, I would be all over those again!"
