This is one of our favorite colors. The leather's base color is a light oatmeal. We add a couple of layers of natural and brown shoe creams to create a transparent finish that can also hold a shine. This is a "hot stuffed" leather that ages well due to the fat liquors and oils that are infused into the leather during the tanning process.
Creasing and color variation is to be expected on these natural, aniline leathers. Each pair will develop differently as each hide is unique.

Renowned for its durability and ability to be resoled repeatedly, Goodyear-welt construction involves stitching a welt—a strip of leather—around the shoe's perimeter, creating a cavity. After filling the cavity with the shank and cork, the sole is attached, providing strength and water resistance. This construction method results in shoes that are not only long-lasting but also easily repairable, making them a timeless investment in quality craftsmanship.
Derived from our experience fitting and developing various orthopedic-shaped lasts designed for specific foot shapes, the Leo features a moderate arch, heel control, medial support, and forefront freedom. It embodies a traditional welted shoe shape while prioritizing all-day support and comfort.

"This is my fifth set of footwear from GS, and my second in the shoe category - the other being oxfords. These are simply gorgeous. They fit excellently, taking the same sizing I have used for the diesel boots and oxfords I own. They are heavy, look great, and fit well. Pair nicely with denim, chinos, etc. I found a minor issue QA missed, and the team took care of my quickly. Overall, A+. Can't wait for my next purchase."

"Beautiful lines and leather. The quality is outstanding, they are gorgeous shoes. The leather is not tough to break in, out of the box the leather feels supple not overly stiff. I wore them around the house for a few days before wearing them for longer hours. I had my local cobbler install vibram mini-lug sole protectors which was a great touch. The look is even more beautiful."

"Fantastic shoes. The color is great, I liked how the dune was a little colder than very rich yellowy or orangey warm tans. It’s unique without standing out or grabbing attention. Tons of shoes come in brown CXL but I had never seen this dune in a shoe before. The construction and materials are impressive at any price point, let alone what these are sold for. The last is great, a generous fit for the forefoot without being total boats. I wear these with light wash or heavily faded jeans, pale chinos, or tan cotton trousers and they look great."

"Beautiful shoes and clearly well made. They are quite heavy, but I'm looking forward to how they will break in. The finishing is terrific. I have a pair of Alden plain toe bluchers that are nearly twice the price and the Grant Stones have clearly neater stitching, welts and sole finishing. Pleasantly surprised at this price."
