Last appreciation post. - For my friends who are unfamiliar with the term, “last” here is a noun. A shoe last is the wooden or plastic form/frame/mold that the leather will be stretched upon to take the 3D shape of that last. Unquestionably, the last is the soul of a shoe as it ultimately determines the final appearance of the shoe itself. What I want to talk about here is how beautiful the last from Grant Stone is. In my opinion, surpasses all other shoes last in its price range in terms of beauty and elegance and whatever noun you would use to describe it (heavy emphasis on “in its price range”). A lot of shoes and boots out there in the sub-300$ to more-than-400$ range seriously looks like a kid drew up a boot from imagination. They look, if not bulbous, then just generic, or round, or have that toe-spring which i despise. The grant stone boots however, both the curves of the last and the pattern of the leather are well refined and genuinely make for an aesthetically pleasing piece of footwear. An example would be the toe puff in the 3rd photo, may the pictures speak for themselves. And again, in my opinion, this last is on par with that of the Alden’s Barie and Viberg’s 2030. So, limited as my budget maybe, I’m happy with the decision not to compromise my own preferences for prices, and Grant Stone is truly one of my best purchases yet. That’s enough for now.
