The Field Boot pattern is dedicated to the long weekends spent outdoors. It has the feel of a vintage leather hunting boot, utilizing stout leathers and the time-tested Goodyear-welt construction. Most importantly, leather components are used throughout the boot to create the foundation to withstand years of wear.

The shaft is slightly taller than our average boot, but the unlined shaft construction and padded collar offer a soft feel from the first wear. While the pattern and robust materials create a strong base, the key is the full-fitting Floyd last. It prioritizes forefoot freedom which is crucial for all-day comfort. The Field boot is designed for walking, working, and long weekend adventures.

About the upper leather: American Bison hides are known for their heavier weight and natural distinctive grain patterns. The prominent pebble effect varies throughout the leather, making each cut unique. This article is tanned with a healthy amount of waxes and oils to create a rich color and pull-up effect. The distinct look and gutsy body of Bison hide make it an excellent choice for Goodyear-welt boots.

Note: This is not a printed grain. The grain pattern on each pair is individual and will vary.

  • Goodyear-welt construction

Field Boot Walnut Bison

$348.00 Regular price $435.00

Made with

Goodyear-welt Construction

Renowned for its durability and ability to be resoled repeatedly, Goodyear-welt construction involves stitching a welt—a strip of leather—around the shoe's perimeter, creating a cavity. After filling the cavity with the shank and cork, the sole is attached, providing strength and water resistance. This construction method results in shoes that are not only long-lasting but also easily repairable, making them a timeless investment in quality craftsmanship.

Utilizing our

Floyd Last

The Floyd Last is a modified version of the Leo and shares many of the same features: a moderate arch, heel control, medial support, and forefront freedom. In contrast to its progeniture, the Floyd last features a taller, more voluminous toe box, providing a classic Americana workwear look.

Our mission

Providing Excellent Service

Our priority has been putting customers in shoes that properly fit them and standing by our amazing products. Many customers have found they have been wearing an incorrect size for years. This has been lost in the market today. We offer the majority of our footwear in D, E, and EEE widths to provide well-fitting footwear.

We encourage customers to ask our team for assistance to ensure the best fit.

Love my field boots!

"Great boots very easy break in and very comfortable."

Beautiful boots. Easy to break

"Beautiful boots. Easy to break in. Very comfortable."

already my favorite pair

"I feel like everyone says their feet are weirdly shaped but mine are a bit like a scuba flipper: low volume, low instep, wide at the ball and narrow at the heel. It can be tricky finding a good fit. Enter the Grant Stone exchange policy. I initially got these in a 10. 5D because I was worried about the amount of volume in the Floyd last. It was immediately clear I needed an 11D. As they break in, the facings are getting kinda close, I’ve added kilties so we’ll see how that goes. Otherwise, the fit is awesome. If I hadn’t tried the smaller size, I would have forever wondered which size would have fit better. Super comfy, easy to style, tough but not stiff - they’re great boots!"

Brendan C. (5/5)

"Really hard to find the rifht fit."

Paul (3/5)

"Excellent customer service."

Comfortable and Stabile boots

"I’m pleasantly pleased with the purchase of these boots. They are built right and have a solid platform to walk in over different terrain. I’m very happy with all five of my GS boots."

Brett G. (5/5)

Solid boots

"Great leather, build quality and internal components"

Colin S. (5/5)

Field boot walnut bison

"A very nice pair of boots. Great fit & finish, highly recommend anyone who is looking for this style of boot."

Hwee O. (5/5)

Quality Product

"Top tier quality, you can tell they take pride in their craftsmanship. Loved the Walnut Bison color. Took some time to break in, afterwards were very comfortable. Only giving 4 stars because I could never get the perfect fit, I believe there's too much volume in the wide boot for my foot, couldn't get it dialed in, need to tie them as tight as possible. Length and Width were fine."

ryan r. (4/5)

Another great pair!

"This is my third pair of grant stone boots, and as expected, they’re outstanding! These are especially comfortable on first wear, I assume because of the rubber sole. If you’re thinking about the Field boots, I definitely recommend them!"

Q&A

I live in snowy Wisconsin. With how you treat the bison leather, would these boots withstand the snow/wet well with general cleaning and conditioning?
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, the boots should handle the winter conditions well with general boot care. If the footwear gets wet, we suggest letting them dry out naturally before wearing them again. Using a pair of shoe trees is always helpful. It's the salt you'll have to monitor, that is what hurts the leather most.
Will the Field Boot be offered with a lug out sole?
Unfortunately, no plans to add a style with the lug sole. Possibly sometime down the road, but no plans as of now.
What weight is the bison leather?
Thanks for your interest! Our Bison leather uppers will range from 2.2mm - 2.4mm. Hope this helps!
Is the tongue gusseted higher on the boot than your other models?
Thanks for reaching out Josh! While the majority of our other boots have the 1.5" gusset stitching, you won't find it on the cap toe boot or the edward boot. This new Field boot has about a 2" gusset stitch.
