Maduro is the Spanish term for ripe or mature, meaning fully developed. In the cigar world, Maduro refers to a wrapper leaf, the darkest of all the numerous shades of brown. These wrappers undergo a time-consuming fermentation process with higher temperatures and moisture to produce dark colors and rich flavors. After seeing this shell color in various lights, we couldn't think of a better name. This color has many layers, with an earthy, dark brown base. One of the unique properties of Shell Cordovan is the watercolor paint-like character that allows you to see beyond the surface layer. It has a very natural appearance that can be attributed to the six-month-long vegetable-tanned process.
The Edward boot has larger quarters and slightly different details, such as smaller hardware and an extra eyelet, creating a dressier feel than the Diesel.
Slight variation is expected as this article is the antithesis of cookie-cutter leather.

"These shell boots are insanely high quality. They look like this right out of the box. Take them out in the sun, and it’s almost like you can see into them between the colors and the shine. They’re a little stiff in the beginning, but to me that’s a great sign that they’ll last me for decades. No exaggeration. These are my 7th pair and I have a different pair on its way in the mail. That’s the only downside to this boots. They’re addictive!! I might need an intervention"

"This is my fifth out of six pairs of Grant Stone shoes and it’s the one I wanted the most. You can tell that shell cordovan is special. Love the Edward boot choice for this leather. - How long is this shoe in 9.5D in terms of heel to toe? I'm concerned about this boot having too much space at the toe.
- Andrew, Thanks for reaching out. As long as it's not a pre-order and you are ordering/shipping inside the contiguous US, you can return/exchange an “unworn” item for sizing etc. You can create a pre-paid electronic UPS return label for the original item to return/refund or exchange for the desired item. The majority of our customers wear a half size down from your common US sneaker size unless your sneakers are snug. Our footwear fits full.
