The word “diesel” doesn’t exactly remind us of something flashy but instead of something built for strength and longevity. This is our rendition of the basic plain toe boot pattern—made with nothing but proven leather uppers, lining, and insole.
Chromexcel leather tanned by Horween in Chicago is incredibly resilient while offering unparalleled character. The hot-stuffed tannage's natural oils and waxes create an unmistakable pull-up effect and supple feel.
This boot comes equipped with our new Micro Stud Rubber Sole, which is built to handle all seasons. The rubber compound features a medium density and combines traction and durability.

Great boots consider sizing down
"Initially ordered half a size smaller than my sneakers using the sizing guide. Boots were too big. I worked with the customer service team, who were pleasant to work with, and got the Diesels exchanged for a pair half a size smaller. A full size down from my sneakers is the right fit for me. I’ve had the boots for a week now and I’m very satisfied with them. The leather quality and craftsmanship is exceptional. Gorgeous boots
"The shoes are a thing of beauty. The craftsmanship is impeccable. Horween CXL is probably my favorite leather and the patina is coming along well. I want to love these shoes but the problem is the fit. My feet are slightly high at the instep and the diesels are pretty low volume. The flex point crease drives down hard crushing the top of my foot and driving it into the thick slab of veg tanned leather and the rock hard proprietary dainite-ish sole. Maybe an E width would offer more volume. I’d love to try that, but at nearly 90,000 yen (nearly $600) delivered in Japan I can’t really afford to gamble. If they ever make a pair in Horween Navy CXL again I’d be tempted. I’m going to see if I can salvage this pair by getting the crease stretched."

- Hi, I have narrow feet and ankles. My ankle tends to slip in most boots. Do you have any models and sizing you suggest? I'm normally an 11.5 in sneakers.

- I am intending to buy a pair of Diesel Crimson Chromexl. I am concerned about sizing. I wear 11 1/2 in sneakers and have a pair of Thursday boots in size 11. Both shoes are in EE width. What would be the appropriate size for me? Thanks Glenn Kersey

- How do you maintain these boots? Does this leather require a lot of maintenance?
- Chromexcel is a fairly low-maintenance leather. Because it is hot-stuffed with waxes and oils, the leather itself tends to be mildly waxy to the touch. Because of this amount of waxes and oils, you'll not need to condition them as often than a vegetable-tanned leather, such as our Saddle Tan Minerva from Badalassi Carlo. Instead, a horsehair brush and a neutral conditioner is all you will really need. The horsehair brush can buff in scuffs and scratches – this is possible because of Chromexcel's high level of pull-up (the temporary displacement of pigmented oils and waxes due to pressure, bending, scuffing, and scratching).
- How well do these boots handle snow?
- You can find us at the warehouse on snowy days quite often in footwear with the same outsole. We find that it handles snow well. A lug outsole, however, will provide more traction and grip.
